HOW TO INSTALL A DIGITAL THERMOSTAT

To ensure safety, turn off the switch of power to air conditioner or the furnace.

When the cover is removed, you will be able to see a glass tube that contains mercury so you need to be very careful while handling it.

You’ll see a few thermostat wires that you need to remove and for that, you will be required to loosen the screws with which the thermostat’s wires are attached.

To properly install digital thermostat, you need to unscrew the back plate of the thermostat from the wall of your house so that you can remove it safely. Just ensure that the thermostat’s wires do not fall back into the wall. To avoid things to be messy, just tie the wires around a pencil or any other thing that can hold them together.

In the next step, take the back plate of the old thermostat and fix it to the new thermostat with digital display and now put it back on the hole from where the wires were popping out.

STEPS TO REPLACE YOUR THERMOSTAT

Take a pencil and mark the area where screws are to be fixed.

Take a drill or perhaps a screwdriver and punch holes on the marked areas when screws are to be affixed.

Take the plastic anchors and fit them properly.

Take the digital thermostat’s wires through the hole and then place the back plate on it. Now take the back plate and screw it into the anchors.

Thermostat wires are really thin, therefore it is considered better to cut the ends of each of the wires and then strip them all in a new set of wire.

Take the wires and bend them into the U shape. Mark the terminals as R for red wire, Y for yellow wire and G for green wire.

Tighten the U shape of the wire and repeat this step for each of the wires.

Put on the digital thermostat’s cover in its proper place and also put the battery in it so that the thermostat can perform its function. Now turn on the power switch to see if the digital thermostat has been rightly installed.
